New Year’s resolutions are a tough one for me as it so often feels as though you are setting yourself up for failure. This year, however, I decided to stick to do-able, simple beauty resolutions – one’s that I know I can maintain and that will really benefit my skin. Below are my 10 resolutions for 2015 – try picking at least 3 that you think you could incorporate into your busy schedule – your skin will thank you!
1) Sunscreen
Try and incorporate sunscreen into your daily routine – not just on those days where you know you will be on the beach or in direct sunlight. The damage that is caused on a day-to-day basis when driving in the car or nipping out for your morning coffee run all add up!
2) Cleanse, cleanse, cleanse
Remove the days grime and make up as soon as you get home. It’s all down to habit and such a simple, quick step that will make all the difference to your complexion.
3) Develop a Treatment Routine
We all use ‘lack of time’ as the excuse for not taking time out to treat our skin but there are plenty of sleep-on hydrating masks, 1 minute peels and multi-tasking products that should be incorporated into your routine twice a week. These are the products that will get you results and help change your skin – 5 minutes twice a week is very do-able.
4) Invest in your skin
Treat yourself and your skin to one indulgence this year – whether it be a new product, a facial, regular lash and brow tints or simply your own time. It will pay off and make you feel so indulged – something we all owe to ourselves.
5) Cruelty-Free Products
There are more and more cruelty-free beauty products on the market and incorporating these into your routine really is a no-brainer. Do your research and support brands who look after our animals and environment.
6) Educate yourself and read your skin
Learn more about your skin, even if it’s one concern you learn how to treat or improve. Educating yourself and being able to read and understand your skin better is vital in order to know which products will get you the best results.
7) Branch out of your beauty routine
Experiment! Don’t get stuck in your ways – if you are not an ‘eye-shadow kinda-girl’ then branch out and give it a go – even if it’s the most subtle shade or give bold lipsticks a try – every person can pull off the look, it’s just finding what shade, texture or style works best for you, so play around and discover something new.
8) Diet
Don’t underestimate what a change in your diet can do for your skin. Introducing those few extra glasses of water, starting the day off with a fruit or simply cutting back on that extra coffee will get you results.
9) Sleep
It’s not called beauty sleep for nothing! Our skin and bodies need a certain amount of rest – 8 hours a night will leave you feeling rested, rejuvenated and energised.
10) Let your skin breathe
Plastering products and make up onto our skin all the time is not always the answer. Let your skin breath, leave your make up off whenever you can to allow your skin to
