Course Content

Under the guidance of our experienced instructors, you’ll have ample opportunity to practice and refine your skills, working with real clients and receiving expert feedback to enhance your proficiency in Swedish Massage. You’ll also learn valuable business strategies to help you turn your passion into a successful venture. From marketing and branding to client management and financial planning, this course will provide you with the knowledge and tools to establish and grow your own massage practice or spa business.

This course will cover the following topics:

  • Introduction: History of the Swedish Massage technique; Unpacking your kit
  • Applied Anatomy and Physiology
  • Swedish Massage benefits; technical information & terms; adaptations & problems-solving
  • Practical Application: Hygiene; workstation preparation; indications & contraindications; techniques & sequences
  • Business Acumen: Industry Tips; Growing your own business

5-Day practical training session after the successful completion of the online theory module.
Summative assessment and logged treatments.

Mode of instruction

Online Theory:
Asynchronous learning online on your own schedule.  Online theory modules are divided into sections, with a quiz at the end of each section. A summative theory examination will be written on the first day of your practical training.

Practical Training Session:
Upon successful completion of the online theory section, you will be required to attend a 5-day practical training session, including a final practical assessment (Practical dates subject to availability). After attending the Practical Training Session, you will be required to submit a portfolio of evidence of logged treatments performed.

  3. I waive any claim against the Isa Carstens Academy resulting from any act or omission on my part during tuition.
  4. I accept responsibility for the care and safekeeping of all Isa Carstens Academy property (including, but not restricted to books and notes) issued to me for my training.
  5. I will inform the Isa Carstens Academy immediately, in writing, should I change my address or withdraw or change my course.
  6. I am aware that fees and legal costs will be recovered from me should I fail to timeously fulfil my financial commitments towards the Isa Carstens Academy.
  7. I accept full responsibility and liability for the payment of all class fees.
  8. I will not claim compensation for photos taken, voices used, student participation in functions, etc. and accept that any photos used for publicity reasons will be the property of the Isa Carstens Academy.
  9. I accept that all fees are neither refundable nor transferable upon cancellation at any stage after signature hereof and shall be retained as damages / penalty. No variation, modification or waiver of any provision hereof shall be of any force and effect unless reduced to writing and signed by both parties.
  10. Consent to process personal information. I hereby agree, understand, consent and irrevocably authorize the Isa Carstens Academy to keep, use, process and verify information in paper and electronic format, including information supplied by me during the application and enrolment process.
